2010 Busy Bookworm Challenge: Let's Get Started!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year celebration last night! I sure did. And what a better way to start off the new year than to get started on the 2010 Busy Bookworm Challenge!

A couple of weeks ago I asked you all to vote on the 2010 Challenge button and your choice of button was option number 3 (pictured above). Thanks to all who voted and I hope you all like our new button! Be sure to display it proudly on your own blog!

As a reminder, the Busy Bookworm Challenge is aimed at challenging you to pinpoint the books that you ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, MUST READ before the end of 2010. With that in mind, here are the rules:

  1. Make a list of 12-24 books (1-2 books per month, depending on your schedule) of the books that you simply cannot fathom NOT reading. Like, you will cry like a little girl if you can't read these books. (The books on your list can be books for other challenges in which you may be participating.)
  2. Feel free to leave space on the list for books not yet released, or make the list longer if you feel you have the time and energy to commit to these books.
  3. BONUS: Split the list up by which books you plan to read in each month. Get creative: read summery, beach-y books in the summer months or wintery, Christmas-y themed books during the holidays.
  4. Post your list on your blog with the 2010 Busy Bookworm Challenge button, and then sign up for the Challenge by commenting here with a link to your list on your blog.
  5. After you've read your designated MOST IMPORTANT books, write a review and share just how wonderful your book was with the rest of us!
So, are you ready to get started? Me too! This is my 2010 Challenge List:
  1. The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan
  2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  3. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
  4. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
  5. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
  6. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
  7. The House at Riverton by Kate Morton
  8. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
  9. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
  10. The Leaf by Jo-Ann M. Rodriguez
  11. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
  12. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
I think I'm going to start with twelve books and then add onto the list throughout the year. I'm looking forward to getting started on my new list!

Happy reading!
Sig

I already have my list drafted and have pasted the new button in my blog! Hooray!

p.s. I totally want to add Her Fearful Symmetry to my list. I read the excerpt the other day and it sounds pretty interesting.

You can't have Hunger Games on your list and not Catching Fire. Trust me.

Ok challenge list is up. Since I failed my 2009 challenge, I've stuck to 12 books in the hope that I can successfully read those! Loving the button.

I'd love to participate!! My book list is up. I've only included 12 books for the time being, but the list will likely grow as the year goes on. :)

What a fun challenge! I've posted my list, although as Kristyn stated above, I'm sure I will add more titles to it as the year progresses (especially considering that the dang Olympian series gobbled up such a huge chunk).

You can view my list at: http://jodi-leigh.blogspot.com/2010/01/hug-book-its-like-tree.html

Happy reading ladies!

Quick update: My blog's URL changed to www.iridescentbubbles.blogspot.com, so ignore the previously listed address. My booklist can be found by clicking on the link on the sidebar (it's a giant tower of books--hard to miss).

I hope everyone is enjoying some good reads! I'm on my second book now, so I'm feeling pretty good about the challenge so far!

The Princess Bride is a really good book, very different to the movie adaptation and very cleverly written. I want to read more of Willian Goldman's books after having read this one.

Just a quick note to say that I had to change the permalinks on my blog, so the permalink to my Bookworm Challenge post is now:

Really enjoying it so far! Thanks. :)

I will try to keep up with this challenge. I normally enjoy biographies and other non-fiction, but there have been some great science fiction and mythology titles out there too, Thanks for the challenge. I hope I don't disappoint...

I'm having trouble getting into Moon Walk by Michael Jackson. I'm just not in the mood. I switched over to How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster and A Simple Path by Mother Teresa. We will see how this goes.

I've just started my blog and plan on starting this challenge! I should have up my list in the next couple days. I'm excited...I'll feel so accomplished when I'm done!

The challenge is going well for me so far! I just finished my fifth book about a week ago, so I'm right on target, although I still want to try to squeeze in one extra book somewhere this year since I sort of cheated on my first book (I read it in January, but technically before I started the challenge). I'm on the last book of the Percy Jackson series now. I've enjoyed the series, but am definitely ready for a change of genre.

I apparently have ADHD when it comes to keeping my blog in one place, because my URL changed AGAIN. You can now find me at www.fizzyjo.com. My reading list and reviews can be linked from my sidebar--just click on the graphic portraying a pooch lying on a couch in front of a shelf full of books. =)

Have a great summer girls, and I hope you're getting lots of good reading in!
